If you want a summery trip to enjoy the water parks, early May and pretty much all of September tend to be great crowd-wise. Our absolute favorite times to be in the parks are the first week or two of December when the holidays are in full swing but the bulk of the crowd hasn't typically turned up yet (avoid Thanksgiving weekend, though) and late January through mid-February when the crowds tend to be at a lull before the Spring Break storm and the temperatures are pretty low, too. Things slowly seem to be returning to normal now that many of those folks who postponed their trips have finally enjoyed their delayed Disney dream vacations, but we still get some surprise crowds here and there. Days in mid-January which used to be reliably quiet were bustling with as many people as we saw during the Christmas rush. As with so much in life, Covid turned everything upside down. This used to be a fairly easy question to answer – you could just check the various crowd calendars offered by Disney travel sites and pick a time that offered low crowds while still giving you the other things you wanted to plan around (like being in the parks when Christmas decorations were up or visiting during a party like Mickey's Not-So-Scary Halloween Party).
